Occupations

This week the children have been learning about different occupations. We have had a fire station role play outside and a fire station in the small world. The children have also enjoyed playing in the restaurant role play. The children talked about the different jobs their grown-ups did and talked a little bit about what they would like to do when they are grown up. The children would like to find out more about what jobs their grown ups do.

Afternoon Nursery had a visit from Isabel's Dad who came in to talk about being a firefighter. He showed us his uniform and the children enjoyed trying on his helmet and jacket.

In Maths this week we have been thinking about positional language and used objects from the rhyme 'Hey Diddle Diddle' to put in different places as well as give instructions to others. We have enjoyed singing the Nursery Rhyme.

We have had cornflour and water in our outside area and the children have been fascinated with it; stirring it, scooping it and making tracks in it. They thought it looked like snow.

Next week it is Nursery Rhyme Week so we will be singing the rhymes Old King Cole, Wind the Bobbin Up and Hickory Dickory Dock. We will be seeing if we can help Humpty Dumpty by testing different materials as he falls off the wall.

Our sound of the week will be 'i'.

  1. It's lovely to read what the children have been up to, William loved all the fire station role play. William had a great time doing the woodland walk this week. It was lovely to see all of the nursery am children in the Beech class sharing assembly on Friday - they all sat so well.
