Little Red Riding Hood

This week in Nursery we have been reading the story Little Red Riding Hood and learning about which way to hold a book and how to follow the words. We enjoyed joining in with some of the words 'What big teeth you have Grandma'. In Maths we packed a basket of cakes for Grandma and had to make sure that Grandma and Little Red Riding Hood had the same number of cakes. This involved careful counting and moving the cakes around so that there were the same on each plate. We have been talking about and drawing our families. In P.E. we are very impressed with how quickly the children have been getting changed. This week we learnt a Beanbag dance, balancing the beanbag in different places on our body and we listened carefully to the tambourine, stopping on a coloured spot when we heard it. Settling In

What a wonderful week we have had in Nursery getting to know all the children. We have been really pleased with how the children have settled. The children have really enjoyed starting to explore all the different areas in Nursery both inside and out. They are beginning to learn the rules and expectations for the different areas. Some children have shown us their painting skills, drawing lines and circles with different coloured paints. Scarlett had a go at mixing the colours together to try and make pink. They have shown off their cutting skills, following straight lines and some investigated how to operate the scissors. On Friday they really enjoyed using the bikes and scooters. The children are trying really hard to learn the welcome and goodbye songs and to get to know the other children in their group. Millie and Isla have really enjoyed using the instruments in our music area. Next week we will be reading the story 'Once Upon a Time' and thinking about what the
